Tanzania was visited by approx. 2.2 Million international tourists in 2025. Most of them came to enjoy the biodiversity and the outstanding wildlife in the National Parks, they climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro or relaxed on the white sandy beaches of the Zanzibar archipelago, incl. Mafia and Pemba. 50% of the visitors were Europeans, 114,615 came from Germany and almost 50,000 from Scandinavia (2019). Western Europe is a steadily growing market for Tanzania tourism, with a good money spending clientele. With a total of 275,000+ tourists, these two combined markets are the undisputable No. 1 source for tourism in Tanzania – before USA! Apart from safaris, mountain climbing is also very popular. In 2025 a total of 10,261 tourists from Germany, Netherlands, Belgium & United Kingdom climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, which is the No. 2 source market after the United States on the mountain.
